Year in Review

To love beauty is to see light.
— Victor Hugo

Happy holiday season! These last two years have been long and testing, but I am so very thankful for each of the moments I shared and spent with my clients. 2021 was one filled with more elopements, micro weddings, backyard wedding, as well as many captured memories of newborns from past clients. I feel so honored when clients allow me to capture different chapters of their life.

Donations for Anchor and Pine’s yearly 5% to public land pledge went to organizations like Pacific Crest Trail Association, Washington Trail Association, Trail Keepers of Oregon, National Park Foundation, Surfrider of Portland, The Nature Conservancy, and National Parks Conservation Association. Last year, I wanted to also start giving back to community organizations as part of Anchor and Pine’s 5% pledge. This year, I contributed to two community organizations, Project Lotus and SheJumps. Project Lotus, an organization that has a goal to destigmatize mental health in Asian-American communities by tackling the model minority stereotype through culturally-relevant education for the community and the empowerment of voices. She Jumps is a nonprofit committed to increasing participation of women & girls in outdoor.

As we move into the new year, let’s take a moment to reflect on all the good things we had and the new adventures we took. The days that pass each day have been mental tough and full of uncertainty, but with a bit of grace for ourselves and the people we love…maybe we can find laughter and beauty in the world. There is always brightness to be found somewhere.

All my best,
Helen Schuckers

P.S. I have compiled some highlights from 2021 from my elopements, weddings, and family portraits
